Hurray! Imaginary Topographies Opens December 5, 2020
The show is finally on, after a six-month COVID delay. This will be my fourth solo show at Martine Chaisson Gallery in New Orleans, opening December 5 and closing January 30, 2021. I’ve created twenty-four new digital collages, multi-piece landscapes, and abstract works that all relate to my native south Louisiana for this exhibition. Can’t wait to launch!

New Show, Struck by Nature, in Asheville, NC opening April 7

I'm delighted to announce my newest exhibition, Struck by Nature, at The Collider in downtown Asheville, NC. The Collider's mission is climate change innovation, and its space overlooking Pritchard Park is beautiful. The show opens with a reception and artist talk on Friday, April 7, from 5:00 - 6:30pm, and runs through August 31.
Great Opening for Rare Earth!
It was a great opening at Kelli Kaufman's Gallery in Lafayette, LA on March 11. The turnout was terrific, and it was wonderful sharing my new and older works with a great group of friends and family. The next opening will take place during the April Art Walk on Saturday, April 8.
The show runs through May 30.

a Lovely Interview
It was a great pleasure spending last week in south Louisiana.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Hilliard Museum's Lizzy Oxler and I were invited for a interview with Judith Meriwether on KRVS, south Louisiana's public radio station. We talked about the Hilliard's Depictions of Louisiana show, and about my ongoing projects in coastal wetlands.
Judith is a wonderful interviewer, and asked insightful questions about my work and my relationship to south Louisiana. She also promoted my artist talk later that evening at the Hilliard. You can hear the interview here:

So happy to be returning to the Hilliard Museum of Art in Lafayette, LA this month!
On Wednesday, April 27 at 6:00pm, I'll give an artist talk in conjunction with the museum's Depictions of Louisiana show, where three of my pieces are featured in this extraordinary show.
In the talk, I'll discuss depicting evolving coastal landscapes in my native south Louisiana and around the world. I'll also preview works from my newest series, Rare Earth, which presents a new perspective on the environmental issues facing the region. The evening will finish with a book signing for Struck by Nature: Photographs of Bald Head Island.
Wednesday Nights at the Hilliard are free for the public to enjoy.

Gorgeous Flood
It’s a snow day here in Durham, and while sledders joyfully fly down the icy, snowy “slopes” of our neighborhood, I’m looking at the new work I made in far flung locations last year. Gorgeous Flood, above, interprets a lush, tropical place of leisure as a landscape inundated with floodwaters. Though shot in the Coral Sea, it reminds me of the gorgeous cypress swamps of my native Louisiana, where ancient bald cypresses live in freshwater lakes. The iconic, prehistoric-feeling cypresses seem impervious to environmental change, and yet they are slowly yielding to salt water slowing intruding into their habitats. So much beauty, gently evolving, and I am captivated and compelled to tell the story.
Looking Back, Looking Forward.
Creating a new website is a fascinating challenge for an artist. I’m constantly thinking about making new pieces for upcoming shows, while thoughtfully reviewing my portfolios of past work for the new site. The joy of looking back includes happily reliving some favorite moments on location. The days I spent on Bald Head Island making the Federal Road series were particularly magical. It was October 2012, the island was eerily quiet, and the haunting, tree canopied roads were speaking to me.
The mystery of the maritime forest is compelling, and these images reflect the dual nature of barrier islands: tranquil, yet restless, and ever evolving.
